We took the legendary Les Lemuriens site and gave it a new soul. We’ve reimagined the space as a sanctuary for the modern traveler—the kind of person who wants to unplug from the “real world” without feeling like they’re roughing it. It’s about finding that perfect balance between barefoot wandering and intentional design. Around Year 2000
Long before "eco-travel" was a trend, an Italian entrepreneur named André looked at the wild southern tip of Ile aux Nattes and saw a masterpiece. He built Les Lemuriens—a lodge designed to melt into the jungle rather than stand out from it. Using traditional Malagasy architecture, he created a front-row seat to the island’s wildlife, proving that you could have comfort without losing the raw soul of Madagascar.
2008
As the world discovered the magic of the island, the lodge entered a new chapter as part of the Vanivola family. This era was all about refining the guest experience and putting our little corner of the south on the map as a must-visit destination for travelers seeking that perfect mix of exclusivity and island relaxation.
2018
The lodge found a new champion in Raymond, who spent years pouring energy into the property and leveling up the amenities. Under his care, the lodge’s charm truly started to glow. Then came 2020—the year the world stood still. Like the rest of Madagascar’s tourism family, the lodge faced the challenges of the pandemic with grit. In 2023, after years of dedication, Raymond passed the torch, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and top-notch hospitality.
2023
This is where our new story starts. We saw a chance to take this legendary site and evolve it into a 21st-century sanctuary. Our mission? To blend the clean, minimalist aesthetic of Scandinavia with the vibrant heart of Madagascar. We stripped away the fluff and leaned into sustainable materials, soothing palettes, and modern eco-tech. The result was the launch of Aurora Lodge—a labor of love that represents our team’s commitment to high-end hospitality that doesn't cost the Earth.
